Using the List
The List lets you generate sequences of output changes with rapid, precise timing. In contrast to an output step, which is a one-time output change, an output list is a sequence of output changes. You can set the following for each of the outputs in sequence.
-
Set the step that will generate the trigger out signal at the beginning/end of the step.
-
Set the last output value after the sequence list completes.
-
Set how the list responds to triggers.
-
Set the trigger delay in seconds.
-
Set the list repeat count.
-
Set the list to repeat continuously.
The maximum number of steps, repeat count, and other properties will depend on the instrument.
Step 1 – Add/remove steps to/from the list table
-
Click the output number.
-
Click
to add steps until your sequence for the channel is complete.
Click if you want to delete the selected step, or click
to clear all steps in the list.
Click if you want to clone the selected step. The cloned step will be inserted at the bottom of the list.
As you add steps, the Summary statistics on the right are updated while the Preview provides a graphical timeline of the sequence.
If you define a sequence for more than one channel, you can choose from the View menu to display a Single Channel at a time, or All Channels.
Step 2 – Configure the output sequence
Voltage | Sets the voltage value for the step. |
Current | Sets the current value for the step. |
Power | Sets the power value for the step. |
Resistance | Sets the resistance value for the step. |
Dwell Time | Sets the run-time for the step. |
BOST | When enabled, will generate a trigger-out signal at the beginning of the step (BOST). |
EOST | When enabled, will generate a trigger-out signal at the end of the step (EOST). |
Additional settings
Output After | Specifies what happens when the output sequence completes. DC - Returns to DC value that was in effect before output sequence started. List - Remains at last list value. |
Pace | Sets the pacing of the step. Dwell - Next step immediately outputs when dwell time has elapsed. Trigger - Next step immediately outputs when external trigger is received. |
Repeat Count | The number of times that the sequence is executed before it completes. |
Continuous | When enabled, repeats the sequence continuously. |
Step 3 – Run the list sequence
Use the /
buttons for each output to run and stop the Arb sequence individually.
Use Run All / Stop All to run Arb for all outputs.
Import/Export a List
Click to export the sequence to a CSV file.
Click to import the sequence from a CSV file.
Tip: Create a list and export it, then use the file as a template to create the sequence to be imported.
